Alongside the documentary screening a few examples of Patti’s work have been exhibited in the garden of the Italian Residence in Farmanieh, including travel notebooks made up of different materials and a 1970s typewriter to enable guests to write down their comments and impressions.
Patti’s short film "Janvier" (2014), focused on musical experimentation, was also presented to the public.
"Art is the act of sharing thoughts and action; it stems from the urgency of expressing one’s own vision of the world. I work to identify areas of common interest, conceptual spaces which are intended for art and are devoid of geographical boundaries". This is what Pier Paolo Patti said in commenting the philosophy of his artwork during the event at the Italian Embassy.
He also explained his fascination with Iran and the Iranian people, indicating that the Iranian noble civilization and culture has become an important and fertile form of inspiration for his art.
Born in Southern Italy in 1978, Patti has participated three years ago in an exchange program between Italy and Iran which brought him to spend several months in Tehran as a resident artist.
Over the years Patti has experimented with different forms of language, through the use of new media means and complex techniques, with the aim of creating multisensory installations.
Over the last decade, Patti has held several solo exhibitions, including "Roots" in Tehran in 2018 curated by Yasaman Tamizkar and Maryam Bagheri, and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Italy and Europe.
The documentary “Pier Paolo Patti. An Artist beyond Borders ", as well as the previous five episodes of the series "From Tehran to Rome. A Journey through Art", are available for viewing on the social channels of the Italian Embassy in Tehran (YouTube, Instagram, Twitter).
